The old Fleetline double-decker bus has been one of our most popular exhibits at the museum enjoyed by many children and adults over the years. It had been used as the childrens party bus with the upper level re-designed with table seating and a great view across to the airport. Unfortunately, time has taken it’s toll and it came to the point that much needed repairs were too difficult or expensive for us to do. The bus has now been taken away to a bus museum in Cheshire where it will be fully restored. Photos show it leaving our museum and arriving at it’s new home in Cheshire.
However, the good news is that we now have a new arrival at the museum in the Volvo B7TL double-decker bus decked out in the Yellow Buses livery that will become it’s replacement. The new bus still needs some work on it to get it ready for the public, so it’s currently not available for visitors to go inside. This also means that we cannot currently offer the use of the new bus for childrens parties (as we did with the old bus). For clarifcation, the museum can still host childrens parties – just not with the new bus! Picture below show the bus arriving at the museum – under it’s own power!
